Question 2001 dodge cummins fuel problems

A friend of mind has a 2001 dodge cummins. It seams to run out of fuel, you can idle down the road but as soon as you give it fuel it seams to be starving for for it, have replaced the filter two times and it still does it.Thanks Sid

Any codes or idiot lights?
If none, sounds like lift pump going/gone Tango Uniform.
If codes or lights, depending on what they are, Injector pump.
Get us more info.

I would get the fuel pressure check. It sounds like the fuel pump or injection pump.

Matchead...there 2 things to do. Swing by Autozone or somewhere that has a OBD2 scanner and have the truck scanned. Then you need to measure the fuel pressure at the Screader test port (you need a special hose and a pressure guage) on the injector pump. Then report both back to us...and we can help you then.

Does it give off white smoke?
