Question 2000 Wont Start HELP!!!

Hey all. My ol man has a 2000 that isnt starting. The weather here has gotten a little colder(Montana), around 5-10 degrees. I got in the truck, cycle the intake heaters twice and it fired after cranking a few times, and just died. I popped the hood, and noticed a leak around the filter housing. I pulled the top off and replaced the filter. Now if you cycle the heaters and try to start, it just cranks. The LP will only come on AFTER you try starting when you turn the key off. The ol man doesn't have a fp guage as of yet. Any suggestions??? I know on my 04 the lp will come on right when you turn the key to on. I checked for codes and there are none. Thanks for any help...

You can try loosening the line going from the filter housing to the injection pump and see if the fuel is getting to there by running the lift pump. If it is,,, then start bleeding the injectors. It may be something as simple as air in the lines going to the injectors. The LP on my 99 acts the same way after the initial 1st time turning the key on. I have to bump the motor in order to get it to run for the 20 or so seconds. It may take bleeding at least 3 injectors before she'll fire,,,,,, it will run rough, but should smooth out.

Let us know what you find.

Could be jelling as well. Try some of the PS in the red bottle. The DIESEL 911.

I was thinking gelling as well. The ol man uses stanadyne every fillup. Fuel that was left in the canister looked alright. The way the lift pump is acting kinda has me bothered though.... I have the truck in the garage heating up. Im about to go out again and have a look. Thank you for all the replies so far.

The LP cycling only after you "bump" the starter is totally normal. It might make a real quick blip when you turn the key "on", but it won't run until you attempt to crank.
