2000 dodge 2500 cummins no start

I have a 2000 2500 cummins and just recently it was having problems starting. I took it to the mechanic and they said it was the ecm and wiring harness were shorting and bad. (Installed brand new wiring harness and repaired the ecm.) when I got it back they said it was fixed and it started good for the first day then it did the exact same thing. It would power up but no crank. They said it could be the starter going bad and it could be popping the starter fuse which it was. Replaced the starter and it started perfectly fine until today when I used it drove it then shut it off for about an hour and it didn’t start up. Checked the starter wires to see if they were on snug and the starter fuse. It would still pull start so I pull started it. It has 2 new batteries, a new starter, a new engine wiring harness, and a repaired ecm. Please help!

There is a "starter" fuse that is only for the starter signal, starter power is unfused.

The main reason the starter does not turn over is the clutch safety switch on manual transmissions.

A "russian" way to test it would be to turn on the ignition, short the big lug to the small contact on the starter (after checking the truck is in neutral about 10 times) and see if it turns over. This can kill you.

The better test is to wire a small light bulb (12V) from the starter control wire to a visible place and try to start the truck- no light, signal is missing, light on, starter bad.

Just had this same problem with my 2000 Cummins. Mechanic replaced fuse, but I would like to know what caused the fuse to blow. Where is this fuse located and what amperage? Seems like something I would like to carry a spare of.
