1996 turbo / non-turbo swap
hi everyone
can't find an answer locally!!! I have a situation here. I have a 1996 dodge turbo diesel in my truck, the rings and bottom end are pretty much shot. I have a 1996 dodge non-turbo diesel engine in a full size van. (I have had people tell me that in 1996 non-turbo diesel engines in vans was not an option) My main question is that, Can I take the block from the van and put my intake and turbo etc. on to that block??? Is there any way to check to see if they match up before i start tearing things apart? any help you can provide would be great. thanks |
huh
please post some pics... I am going to be another one of those guys who tell you that it is impossible. I have never seen or heard of a dodge diesel van in the mid 90's... especially a non turbo one. What engine is it.... is it a b series cummins or something else.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge but what motor is in the van, Harold |
Is this van a US model or from somewhere else?

How many miles are on your 96?
What makes you think the bottom end is shot? Is it knocking? Low on oild pressure? |
You will need to cross reference CPL tables for the engines to ensure the parts of the non turbo are up to the turbo task.
Odds are this is a pre 94 engine swapped into a later van. I can tell you with certainty Dodge did not make a diesel van in 1996 for US market. |
