'01 cummins DEAD AGAIN!! Help! P 1694

Hi guys, I just bought an '01 cummins and on the way home the thing died on the interstate. Dealership where I bought it towed it back and they said they fixed the cam sensor. Well its 3 days later and the thing is dead again in my driveway. It died right as I pulled in, will not restart. This is exactly what happened before. Only code I get is P1694. Is it possibley a bad replacement cam sensor? Also, I've searched and something came back about a ccd communication error? What is this? I need suggestions as to what is really wrong because I need this truck driveable! Please help me out, I just bought this truck and don't know alot about it yet!

Check the fuel pump relay first. It is under the hood on the driver side. If the horn works, just change it with the horn relay. If still no go, check to see if you can hear the lift pump running after you turn the key. You can also crack open the banjo bolt for the return fuel line to make sure you are getting fuel because it could be a clogged fuel filter. If your getting fuel and everything else is working it could be the injection pump.

Thanks, I'm gonna check those things you listed. Although I'm not sure where the banjo bolt for the return fuel line is (sorry I'm a novice). Also, now I'm not getting any codes!?!?

well the fuel system relay is good. Lift pump is definitley running (can hear it after bumping starter). This truck has a lift pump relo kit on there but I cracked the fitting where it connects to the injection pump and its definitley getting fuel there...I just keep thinking that its that dang cam sensor. The truck did exactly what it did the first time (just stalls out and dies while crusing down the road) and they fixed the cam sensor and all was well. Could something be frying the sensors?

P1694 No CCD Messages received from ECM (engine computer mounted on the side of the engine, driver's side).
Bus communication failure to PCM (truck computer mounted on the firewall/passenger side of the engine bay).
You might check the plug-in connector at the back of the injector pump...all help gratefully appreciated.

Its possible this code was not cleared at dealership, how many starts since set? If the PCM was flashed or ECM disconnected at dealership it will set this code. To run test on CCD Bus a DRB is needed (scan tool). You can check power and grounds at the ECM and if they are good most likely ECM is bad. Replacement ECM comes not programed and will need to be flashed by dealership. If you just puchased this vehicle I would call selling dealership and have truck repaired by them at no charge to you.
