HE351cw install this past weekend......

So I have had a rebuilt351cw sitting on my bench for a few months. Just getting over a Rotator cuff rebuild in the shoulder so I have been out of operation for about 5 months. Finally started getting it together and bought the flange from Jacob. I bought a 2.75 to 2.75 elbow (45 degree red) from "Silicone Intakes" and a 2.75 to 2.5 elbow reducer (45 degree black) along with the stainless joint between the two. I did this to make up the 3" or so left after re-clocking the turbo to the intercooler pipe. I cut about 4" off the intercooler pipe to fit the silicone boots to the right length. Wastegate is tacked shut and the rod assembly removed by the PO. Drilled out the turbine holes and replaced the studs with new ones. used new "flange" bolts on 3 of the studs and a "jam" nut on the left/top stud because there is not very much room to work with between the turbine and the stud end. Cut the end of the DP and welded the flange on. Plugged the Solenoid hole and the nipple on the housing. The oil drain pipe and oil line fit straight away. Took about 6 hours. I have POD's and would lay down a good screen putting the pedal down hard and now there is literally no smoke jumping to 35 pounds. She whistles something fierce. Here are some photos of the finished product.

I need to do mine also. But like you i've been down awhile and couldn't work much. I installed one of 3 I had on a young mans truck that had pods about 8 or 9 months ago. It made a world of difference in his truck with pods. Almost no smoke but would run like a banshee. But him being young and heavy footed he mangled the Getrag straight away-maybe 45 days lol. Now he is putting a NV-4500 in as he gets money. But yea the lil turbo will light a truck up with pods.

You are correct "Biltit". Had to put that boost gauge sensor somewhere.

Thanks for the specs on the HE351CW install brah. I just ordered my parts from SILICONE Intakes as well. Been meaning to build up a new core support on my '72 crew with the BANKS intercooler and CROSSFLOW radiator. I have all the parts ordered now and we'll see.

I like your install but I HIGHLY recommend replacing those worm drive clamps for nice TBOLT clamps.

Yo hoss.

I just got one of these turbo's too, to install on a "customers" (more like a close friend's) 90 non intercooled truck.

He already has a 4" diamond eye downpipe with the 3" flange at the end.....Does the HE351 have a true 4" outlet or do i need to buy a special size flange to weld onto the end of the 4" DP ?

Thanks.
