Talking Why Shouldn't We Have The Option?

All this talk of being "red flagged" lately for larger tires, air filters, guages, and other crap...

I think we should have an option to buy a new truck without a warranty for a discounted price... Is this totally irrationtal thinking here or??

I'm sure that some of you are thinking that this may not be a good idea, but if you count up the times you have used a warranty vs. actual cost(not the dealer cost either) to repair.

I mean how many people are out there running down the road with a box, lift, or some type of performance enhancement and just keeping their fingers crossed when it comes time to get anything covered by a warranty?
Oh and this would not be limited to recalls...

The dealerships out here are allowing the buyer to custom build his truck and still be covered under the factory warranty. Lift it...bigger tires...chips (only some dealerships), exhaust, custom made dashs....pretty much whatever you want. But it doesn't come cheap. I have seen quotes as high as 95,000CDN and you would be surprised how many people are still buying them.

I have seen a custom ordered furd with a 6 inch lift and 33 tires and furd told him that the lift would not be covered on the warranty. He later found out that nothing was cover.. I guess that is ford for you.

The problem with the "dealer custom" trucks is that the vehicle warranty is provided and administered by DC, not the dealers.

I think you guys are missing the items in question, and looking at the extreme. I would like to see a Brake controller, Gauges,They already put 285s' on the Powerwagon, so why not have that option for other models ? We are not talking 6" LIFT AND 37"s.

Aren't drivetrain warranties required by law?

Emissions have a 5yr/50,000 mile requirement, does the drivetrain have anything similar?
