Why is ATF+4 so hard to find?

Owned and worked on quite a few vehicles over the past 30 years and have been wondering... of all the proprietary ATF products on the market, why is ATF+4 the one transmission fluid that's harder to find and/or why do the few retailers that actually carry it, have such a problem keeping it in-stock lately!?

Now days I get a lot of my parts and fluids from Amazon.

I know some people don't have it but those that do need to justify that $99 Prime Membership.

If you got it (actually this isn't on prime but has free shipping anyways!) here ya go.

Funny you should mention Walmart...

5+ Walmarts... all within a 15 mile radius... completely sold out...

Oh and only 1 ATF+4 brand available at our local WM's for the past 5 years.

Wow, and we are both in Illinois........... Are you sure they didn't figure out a way to make Meth with ATF+4?

How close are you to Streator?

I could go pick up a couple of cases for ya.

Thanks but not in need of a case quite yet... at least no trans flushes in the foreseeable future anyway. Just annoying when wrenching on a personal vehicle/family or friends vehicle, you need some and expect it to be on the shelf but its out of stock in so many places. Oh and I'm actaully in Batavia, IL which adds to my point... interesting your Walmart has 2 brands and our walmarts (plural) cant keep one brand on the shelf Yes, I know... I can go to the parts stores and find it fairly easy but still curious why ATF+4 always seems like the harder find(?) And lol... now you're beginning to make me wonder if someone around here is actually buying it all up for some devious purpose
