What made the 6.0 PSD so bad?

The VT365 was a decent motor for International in their light and medium duty circuit. It wasn't without problems, none of the these motors ever are. It made decent power, was only allowed to rev to 3500 rpm in those app's, and held up good. Ford then decided that they wanted a higher revving, more powerful motor, out of the same design, also while lowering emissions(EGR). Ford took a motor that was on the edge of being underbuilt, and decided to do more than it was capable of with it. Look back at the 7.3 PSD, and the T444E, in their respective applications. There was very little difference in the power/torque ratings, they ran 3400 rpm's for the most part, and were a medium duty setup. They weren't the most powerful engines built, but held together well, and, except for the CPS, were reliable. Some people blame Navistar, some blame Ford. I don't know exactly who to point the finger at, but look at the track record from the past and present.

I gotta tell you that when David told me he had STOCK parts in his tranny I was VERY surprised. NONE of the the four Dodge CTD Pickup Trucks I have owned would take that kind of abuse! I guess that 5R100 on the 6.0's is a pretty good unit.

The trans can handle more than you think.
If it goes then I will do a Suncoast rebuild with a billet shaft.

The reason our trans holds up so well is that it is custom tuned and mine locks the converter in 3,4 and 5th in my race tune that way there is no slipping or hesitating.

My tuner has the best shifting files on the market.

John_P..I'll let you drive it the next time we are at Coastal
