General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

I just spent a little too much time researching this at work; seems like the frequency (tone or pitch that you hear) is much more dependant on the pipe length than the diameter. But I couldn't really find anything applicable to determine the "right" length for an exhaust pipe. There seems to be too many variables: EGT, operational engine speed, exhaust manifold vs. exhaust header, etc etc. I think the easiest thing to do is convince your buddies to install a bunch of different exhausts, listen to theirs, and pick the one you like the best.

Gee I'm glad I posted the pic. Just trying to present another stack option since people here seem to be into it. It did look pretty cool in person, guess you had to be there.

I said to each their own... if you like it, great... I think it looks stupid...

if I saw it in person, I would point and laugh.

I kinda point and laugh at any truck with stacks, but that's beside the point. Oh well, since I don't like stacks, I shouldn't assume I share popular opinion on what cool stacks are. To each their own is right sir. Cheers.

Kyle the entire truck was just massive, the pic doesn't do it justice. The one stack was pretty monstrous - it made more of an impact than two smaller ones would have on me. A few guys that lived up the street from me have stacks too, double stacks on a 2nd gen cummins and one on a f250. On both of those at least, the stack diameter was much smaller compared to the single stack on the ford.

I am not a 'stack hater' for the record, I just wouldn't put them on my truck. One of those things you love to look at but wouldn't do yourself, I dunno. It's cool watching the smoke come out of them, that's for sure. If I see a guy in a cummins with stacks I usually toot the horn at him or give a thumbs up They usually look at me funny till they see the little C up front and then smile back

those "c" badges are alright but i went to a big rig wreckers yard and they had a freghtliner section in the park and i found those "cummins DISEL POWER" badges look exactly like the "CAT diesel power" so i had to rip those off...alot of cool stuff at those wrecker yards
