General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

i put in 3 gallons of #2 a couple days ago, for 2.43 per gallon.
i need to make a trip to the local restaurants to fill up my barrels again (fuel supply) to filter and pump into my truck.
tell your friends to eat more fried food.....
i'm running between 60 and 90% used cooking oil. in a older rig. almost 200,000 miles on her.
most of the fuel cost in europe is taxes. here it's just profits.

I've read where some fo you guys explain a little how to do this, but would any of you consider a tech article for the websight on how to process your own? I think I could swing some grease from a few restaraunt owners I know.

i filter my oil from a known good source, not burnt or contaminated w/water.
the final filter is a 5 micron filter, prior to mixing with #2.
farm supply stores are a good source for goldenrod filters, also you can use whole house h20 filters. some users use multiple filters, a 20, 10, and a 5 micron filter. some pass the oil from container to container with settling between transfers. the pump has the filter on the outlet hose. some users gravity filter to the next container, (takes longer). counting filters, my oil cost me about .30 a gallon. plus the cost of #2 at 2.50/gallon at the moment. by winter i plan on running a heated 2 tank system, 1 with oil (heated) and 1 with #2. using an electric tank switchover valve.

at the moment home made bio-diesel under 400 gal? a year and wvo is considered an oil additive and is not taxable.

some financial analyst is publishing that the oil bubble will burst in the next 10 days.

I work out with a local rancher that makes most of his money from investments...

That is true but in most of those countries you can cross 3 borders in about an hour.
Heck if United States was only 1000 miles from pacific to atlantic shore I would not mind paying so much for where I was going.

Fuel up 16 cents and I didn't see it coming. I did top off at one station that's priced a little higher but a coupla days later in the knee jerk price increases. They'll probably go up today.
I wonder which product makes the most vegetable oil per acre?
I guess there was no such things as terrorism and hurricanes 7,8,9 years ago when fuel was a lot less.
I don't want to hear about China and India being the cause ... as if they were all driving donkey carts up to last year and are now all driving cars.
It is a speculative scam being driven by the oil companies and their friends in the media ... also the EPA and their insane rules on producing gas/diesel. Apparently the new ULSD will cost about 25% more to produce than the stuff we are using now ... Oh and don't forget the state and federal taxes on fuel (states are sniking in fuel taxes in their budgets while everyone is looking the other way).

I wonder if additives like Power Service can help the winter pour point (I think that's what it's called) for used cooking oil in cool or even cold weather?
