wastegate ??

wastegate ??

1st what does it do ?? 2nd what is the advantage of blocking it off ?? thanks guys, scott

Depends.<br><br>1) it opens allows the turbo to spin at a higher speed when idling as there is less backpressure. This equates less turbo lag.<br><br>2) it allows the turbo to spin at full boost speed as when you let off the throttle the wastegate opens to allow free flow of air.<br><br>That is for a gasser anyway.
