Turbo diesel in an airstream

I have recently looked at a 1993 Airstream with a cumins 5.9 in it. I am pretty sure this is the 1st gen. 12v the man that owned it was a retired trucker and the coach was kept in emaculant condition. all the service written in the manuals. He used Baldwin filter throughout and there is a big supply of them in the coach . this unit is coupled with an allison auto tranny. The guy that owned it died about a year ago so I am talking with his wife pretty knowledgable about the coach but he did the maintanance. I know this is a 230 mtr but she made the comment that the motor had been taken up to a 300hp. She said her husband had told her that. I noticed a jake brake but did not notice a set of additional gauges exaust temp oil etc.. I am thinking there must be a box on it somewhere but don't know what to look for on this mtr. the engine has 35,000 on it so it should be in great shape but I just don't know what to look for. This is one sweet coach and I would like to own it.m Could anyone tell me a bit more of what to look for in these rigs. It is a 93 model 35' airstream legacy. Thanks for the help.

Regardless of the pump on a 12v, it will be purely mechanical - no electronic engine management at all......so, don't expect to find any type of aftermarket fuelling module.

Either the VE or the P pump can have mild internal mods to crank out 300 hp. If the engine is a factory 230 or 235 hp unit, I would be willing to bet it is P-pumped, though, someone could correct me if I'm wrong. If it is a P7100, there will be no readily visible signs of any modifications to the pump.

I know a guy with a 94' pusher w/230hp. It's a Ppump. I think I heard the Allison 4spd trannies didn't like having an exhaust brake. The Allison 6spd was designed for the exhaust brake.
