tug of war: dodge pulls chebby all way around waffle house & the mall
I always chuckle at these tug of war contests. I live at a T-intersection on a dirt road and at least once a winter someone misses the corner on the ice. I watched for a while one morning while some guy tried to pull his mother's car out of the ditch. He had a 3/4 ton diesel of some sort but his winter tires just weren't getting anywhere near enough traction to pull her car up the hill and out of the ditch. I went and fired up my 1953 IH tractor. I chugged my way down the driveway, hooked onto the recovery strap and popped her right up out of the ditch. My tractor only has a 38hp engine but I put it in the lowest gear I have and put the torque amplifier in low. The big ag tires it has helped a bunch and the fact that with filled tires and wheel weights it weighs about 5 tons was likely the biggest factor in the success. Horsepower is fun, but there are lots of things that are more important when pulling stuff.
The original vid that is now deleted made the local news yesterday with the requisite bleeps and beeps. The news sounded like the Dodge owner is paying for some damages. I am not sure if it is to the grounds or the Chevy.
There is a version with all the language edited out, which won't require a deletion
