Hey, looks like a late lunch for you! ;)
|
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
I would try it, but I will be working.
|
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
I live in Texas. Besides, I don't like the idea of biodiesel going through my fuel lines. I like my plain old, polluting, smoking, number 2. ;D

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Hey I guess this post wasn't for you then BigBlue ;) But thanks for your valuable input ::) :) Glad you enjoy polluting the air for the rest of us.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
have any of you guys or ladies tried any of it?

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
B&B, see the thread called soy bean fuel. I'd say at least 50% of the 15,000 members on the TDICLUB run bio, but it's just starting to catch on here. I have personally run 100% biodiesel in my Jetta TDI for 25,000 miles with excellent results. Much less smoke, better cetane and lubricity, less engine wear(verified thru oil analyses), and the good thing is that every gallon you buy is one more thats not supporting the middle east and foreign oil consumption. Nice to support american farmers, help out your car, and improve emissions all at the same time. Running a B20 (20% bio) mix or less will be just fine in ANY diesel vehicle, without modifications. Once you go to higher blends, some fuel lines may need upgrading, and filters may need to be changed. The above offer I believe is for a tank of b20. Little do they know how big the cummins tanks are!!

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
;D my bad ;D
|
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Bring on the BIO unfortunately there is none in the GTA to try wonder if they have a rain cheque?
|
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
I wonder if they would let me fill both tanks? (109 gallons) Then it would be worth the 300 mile round trip. ;D
|
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
From what I've read, biodiesel sounds like the best thing since sliced bread. Is anyone running it in an '03 Cummins? If so, did you have to make any modifications to the fuel lines and can the standard fuel filter still be used? Anything that can help cut our dependence on foreign oil and help out the farmers, while making my truck run better 8) ;D 8)
One other thing, I just have to ask, does the exhaust really smell like McDonald's fries ??? |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
"One other thing, I just have to ask, does the exhaust really smell like McDonald's fries"
I never really noticed that McD's fries smelled any different than anyone elses... ;D ;D ;D |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
I would say 'the smell' is close to any fast food drive thru. I wouldn't particularly peg it to french fries. I will say when running b100, its impossible to tell the difference between my exhaust and the restaurant. With B20, which is what you'd run in the cummins, the smell is noticeable at startup, and the smoke and stench are less. However, the smell isn't as strong as with b100.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Okay Lightman, what is the cost of this fuel??? Is it more or less than #2 ??? How available is it throughout the U.S.??? I'd love to support it...

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
The only three downsides, which are slight, to this fuel, are price, availability, and BTU. At 20% blends, these factors aside from availability, are pretty moot. Prices range from $1.80 to $3.50/gal depending what area of the country you live in, and how much your local distributor wants to rip you off. Most places are from $2 to $2.50/gal. Buying in bulk always lowers the price. The thought is by most, if you dump in 5-8 gallons per tank, the cost isn't that great compared to the engine benefit, and thats 5-8gals of fuel we didn't need to buy crude oil to make.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Big Dawg, you're in luck. There's a distributor right in Evansville!! Most of us have to drive a ways to get the bean juice!! IN has more bio than almost any state I've seen, due to all the farmer support. Here ya go big dawg.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
So, to the people how got the free tank of fuel:
1.Is it the first time you tried it? 2.What are your opinion? 4x4 Thanks for the help. |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
The free fuel thing isn't till Aug 12th. Throw in a couple gallons and try it for yourself, you'll love it.

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
How about Oklahoma?
I'd be willing to put a couple of gallons in, but at $2.00 per gallon, I might as well move back to California, sell my children, and get a 2nd mortgage on my house! OUCH! |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
I didn't see anything in OK, but if you are in the northern part, there are plenty in KS.
Guys here's the link to find bio in your area. Click the part that says 'find petroleum distributors in your area' and the one that says 'retail fueling sites'. http://www.biodiesel.org/buyingbiodiesel/guide/ www.biodiesel.org is a great site for info. |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Thanks Lightman...I'll go and check it out...great info...

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
This post is an attempt to clarify another post to this forum. I am in charge of planning the biodiesel pump event for Crystal Flash and we are very excited to be able to offer biodiesel right at the pump in West Michigan! I am so glad that so many of you are supporters of this initiative and are so willing to help promote the use of biodiesel. However, there was a miscommunication on the post. The event begins at 1:30pm and goes until about 2:30pm on August 12. During that time, we will be holding a press conference, unveiling the pump and wrapping it up with a fuel parade that includes some West Michigan corporate partners. After 2:30pm, we will be handing out 100 coupons (one per customer) for 10 free gallons of B20 (the blend Crystal Flash is offering at the pump) and we will be allowing consumers (hopefully many of you!) the opportunity to fill up at that time. Please do not arrive to fill up before that time due the specific timing of the events that will be taking place. We would love to see many of you at Crystal Flash to help raise awareness about biodiesel in West Michigan. I know some of you have 100 gallon tanks to fill but we can only offer 10 at this time. We want to keep Crystal Flash in business for a long time! I hope each of you will take advantage of this opportunity and share in our excitement. I know the event will be a tremendous success in raising awareness for alternative fuel. Please don’t hesitate to call/email me with any questions and please aid me in spreading the word. Thanks! (please, please spread the word about the 2:30, or later, time to fill up) Warm Regards, Kelly Smallegan North Star Public Relations 100 Grandville Ave, Suite 202 Grand Rapids, MI 49503 |
Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
This is a big deal, apparently the mayor will be there for the unveiling of the new pump etc. All you grand rapids guys are lucky, you will now have a b20 pump. The best part is that I emailed her, and the biodiesel will be blended with their premium high cetane diesel. Often times you wonder what crappy #2 they used for the dino diesel portion. This will be truly great stuff!! Too bad its on the opposite end of the country! Michigan has lots. Theres a b20 pump at wacker oil, near ann arbor I believe, that has 20% bio and 80% Amoco Premier (50 cetane min)!

Re:Try a free tank of biodiesel in Michigan!
Not gonna cut out of work early for only 10 gallons. I'll still try it though, if it's not too expensive.
Soooo Kelly, you drive a Cummins? |
