Friend of mine who is shop boss for a large metro bus company told me they were spending $25,000 a month replacing bus windows with graffiti scratched into them. Apparently it can be done with just hardened steel like a knife blade.
Their solution to the problem was scratch proof glass

thats insane.
every new car ive ever owned my entire life since the 80's has been keyed, hit in the bumper by another car in the parking lot and they never stuck around or just screwed up some how by someone with no heart
ill call my insurance company but i doubt they will cover the glass :/

Laminated glass in your windshield. Tempered in the sides and back. Scratch it all you want, it won't break. Strike it sharply with a pointy metal thing and KAPOW, no more window.
This information is not a sign of a misspent youth, but from one who has removed much glass from many accident involved vehicles. Rick P.S. If you do it right 90% of the glass ends up in the bottom of the door.

Lowe's sells a spring loaded center punch. Perfect for breaking car windows and marketed so on one of the auto shows on speed channel, "for breaking the window in the event the vehicle becomes submerged."
However, to do so to collect insurance dollars seems unscrupulous to me. If you're not hopeful insurance will take care of it, I'd shop a salvage yard first.

about 3 years ago we went to the local menards and as i was setting waiting for some people to walk by,so i could pull into spot right up front, there was a guy on the other side and i guess he wanted that spot too.cuz when i came out there was a nice 2 ft long scratch in the drivers door.and i checked with them at customer service and they don't have security cams at menards, like wal-mart,otherwise i could have got a look at this a-hole.wish i would have remembered what he was drivin i woulda went and put a few real bullet holes in his,not them fake ones all the homies have.good thing it wasn't my nice sub, just the old astro.thats one reason i drive a piece of junk if i have to go to places like that, doesn't bother me as bad.
My windows are scratched up real bad from mudding and then rolling the windows down. My own fault though. Happened about 2 months after I got it.
Then last month, some jackbutt keyed my truck. I think I know who it is but I can't prove it. Don't you hate that.
