Truck Hunting

Hey guys... I am looking for a 94-98 dodge ram 2500 diesel 4x4 with the automatic transmission & would like a extended with a 6ft box, but realize they are pretty hard to come by.. And was wondering if anyone in PA could keep a look out & let me know if they see any good deals anywhere.

they didn't make the short bed till 98 model year. now if you have your heart set on a short bed quad cab 12v they only made it for the last 3 months in 1997 as a 98 model year truck. the one you want is the one everyone wants. the elusive 12v quad cab short bed. i got one, it took 4 years for me to find one i could afford, and it is a 2wd.

the 94's were regular cab long bed only. so you are lookin for a 95 to 98 12v. the 96 to 98 5 speed trucks have the best pump for big hp, as in 400 plus. i picked up a 98 excab 4x4 auto the other day for 9k, it had 178k on it. but it was far from a one owner cream puff. but still a good solid truck.

cool...thanks for the information...i will be looking for a 96 - 98 because i'm sure the bomb bug will hit me...as i all ready have my accessories picked out for a truck i don't have yet... A extended cab would be nice but where i live the streets are pretty tight for a extended cab w/ an 8ft box... So a regular cab would also be fine for me....

As has been stated in many other areas on this forum, the 5-speeds are the vechile of choice, the automatics are troublesome. Just good luck finding a 5-speed at all....

i really haven't driven a manual vehicle...at least not a lot...and was wondering if they are any different then a car...And how easy they are to drive.... Plus they are cheaper for a manual..... Also i have read a lot about the fifth gear nut in the manuals... Does this happen to all of them? I won't be doing much towing wiht it.. Just going to have some fun with it...

I've had 2 manual Cummins and loved them both. I recently bought a new Cummins on eBay. You might have to drive a ways to pick it up but you can get some really good prices. Where I live in KY if someone has a Cummins it isn't for sale so I knew I was going to have to drive to get one.
