How well will 504hp perform against your CTD ? http://windev.weblogsinc.com/2008/04...04-horsepower/

The way they stuffed that engine under the hood, I pity the poor sap who has to work on it.
That said, it will be a good truck, Toyota makes a good product. For me, no thanks, too much luxury, too nice of a vehicle to use it as a truck. I want something that I can use, clean the mud out of it, scratch the paint, dent the bed, not something that you are afraid to, because it is too expensive and too pretty.

It produces 75 less HP the Cummins 6.9 and only about 100 ftlb more of torque. Big deal. The ecurrent Tundras have had some quality some quality issues. As Toyota gets bigger, it gets less like Toyota more like GM. Isuzu makes GM's diesel and it still has many issues. I read recently that they still have many FI problems.
This thing is like a pin-up. Until it is in action, it's just a pretty Toyota truck for guys to slobber over. It could be another Power Stroke, for all we know.
And, it aint no Cummins!

I had a Toyota Hilux(tacoma) when I lived in Australia. 4.0TD toyota motor and spent 80% of it's life in 4WD and rarley saw a highway.
FANTASTIC truck.
If you guys ever get to OZ, get out into the bush and all you'll see are Toyota diesel land cruisers.
Check out what we're missing..
http://www.toyota.com.au/landcruiser-70-series
From the link:
Fuel economy (L/100Km)* – 11.9L Troop Carrier
11.9 litres/100Km's=3.2 gal's/60miles=18mpg
I think we're doing very well with the CTD.
