Sterling Bullet Midrange Trucks
Saw this on Truckinginfo.com Thursday. There is a picture of a Dodge with a Sterling grill on it.
Sterling Offers New Midrange Conventional Truck
2/15/2007
Sterling Truck Corp. plans to introduce a new conventional Class 4-5 truck called the Sterling Bullet at the NTEA Work Truck Show 2007 on March 6.
The new truck is ideal for vocational applications including construction, landscaping, municipal services such as government and utility, and pickup and delivery applications.
"With the introduction of this tough new vehicle, Sterling is rounding out its extensive lineup of reliable work trucks," said Chris Patterson, president and CEO of Freightliner LLC. "Sterling dealers will now have an expanded selection of products across commercial vehicle classes 3 through 8, and customers will have a single source for all their truck and service needs."
The Bullet is powered by an EPA-'07-compliant diesel engine found in other Sterling vehicles. The new truck will be available in both regular and quad cab configurations, as well as two-wheel and four-wheel drive.
Sterling Truck is headquartered in Redford, Mich., and is a subsidiary of Freightliner LLC.

That makes sense, since DCX owns both Dodge and Freightliner/Sterling/Western Star.
It may be a Freightliner with a Dodge cab on it - 9 years down the road from the Ford buyout a Sterling is a Freightliner with a Ford cab.

Anyone heard if they will offer a pickup bed on this truck. One of the other
threads shows a picture of the truck with a pickup bed on it. Artist conception that is.
That would hit my spot hard if it was a 5500. Still want a crew cab and 8ft bed. Don't look like thats going to happen anytime soon, so will settle for the 26K towing combined weight rating and the bigger fuel tank.
It would be nice to know some pricing info on all this new stuff from Dodge and Sterling.

Wow, they put a lot of work into that. You'd think while they had the pic in photoshop to put the grille on they could at least swap the pickup bed for a stake body.

That's exactly what my thoughts were . Dodges will become Sterlings just like the Ford trucks did . A couple of problems there . I doubt Sterling would bother with gassers . Read what power will be - the same as found in other Sterlings - CAt , Detroit or Mercedes . Something missing there ?
