Stock Dodge spec or Cummins spec?

I have a friend/co-worker who worked for Cummins in the mid 80's through early 90's . He was absolutely disgusted when he saw how far Cummins had to detune the 5.9 engine to keep from destroying the tiny transmissions installed in the Dodge light duty trucks. When I first met him in 1994, he told me they regularly dynoed this engine to 900 ft/lbs at the factory back in the day.
