Spent the day interviewing with Cummins in Columbus..
I got to see some pretty cool stuff, too. I drove past an '09 proto with the 5.6 V8 cruising around. The new Dodge looks HOT in person!! You'll love it when you see--trust me. It's like a more muscular Mustang.
I'm being considered for a couple possible jobs-- heavy duty (ISX), Midrange (B, C series), and Light Duty (new 5.6 and other small vee engines).
I also got to ride around with the chief Midrange Engineer-- father of the B-series, basically.
They have some pretty amazing capabilities in their test cells and such.
I got to see the building where they are pumping out about 600 6.7L engines a day.
I got to look firsthand at tier-3 certified (2010) common-rail ISX engines.
At this point, it's still a long shot for a job, but working for Cummins would a dream come true for me.
I'll know in a week or so if I'm moving to Columbus to be a Cummins engineer.
(BTW, there's not a chance in heck of adapting the VGT to an older truck..)

Oh, man, Hohn, I am really happy for you. What a great thing it must be...
You'll have to show them our little website...
I'm green... with envy...

At Cummins it is called Research and Engineering. So I am guessing that you walked through Cummins CTC. Were you wearing a tan colored sweater kaki pants and a hard hat walking around with a lady in kaki pants and a guy in a black shirt? Also did you go through the new LDD dyno? Did you go into the Pilot center? I know too many questions, but I was in the area that you visited today.
2010 ISX is neat isn't it. They still got some stuff to work out on them on the software side.
What were you going for, engineer or tech?
Hohn, if you have any questions about any of it feel free to send me a message.
They are making both the v8 and v6 diesels for dodge. And yes they as far as I know will be putting the v8 in the 1500 rams.

Awesome, to hear. I've been trying with cumming since college and never had any luck. I've actually got a better shot at Caterpillar right now in the R&D dept as a technician. Good luck Hohn, hope you get it!
