snow tire chains

shopping for tire chains for my 01 dually, 235/85/16".

are there chains available similar to a Z type pattern? all the ones i see are going to ride like i'm going down RR tracks. perpendicular chain lines.

or does this exist?

thanks

You live in the US so there is only one tire chain to buy and that's a Pewag square link chain, sure they ride rough but they aren't supposed to be used all the time just when conditions warrant them. They can be used not only in snow but sand, pebble and mud. I don't recommend anyone buy a cheap tire chain as they make a tremendous mess of the body work if you break a cross chain.

Do some research into tire socks (autosock, isse, easy grip) instead of tire chains, might be something you want to try.

I use cross bar chains on the duals, and one x pattern chain on one steer tire if needed.

Any time I need chains, noise isn't a factor. Usually the crap (mud or snow) is so deep there's no chain noise at all.

Yeah I throw a set of chains on my yard only plow for the winter.
I also keep a set in the back of the tow rig, incase when I am on the road I need them.
I had to install them on the rear axle to get the two miles down a private road in the snow last week.
I had a Fully loaded 10 trailer behind my 4x4 dually, going down a one lane, winding hill.
If I didn't have those snow chains on the rear, I would not have made it, period.
There was no noise as the snow was thick and just warm enough so it packed.
I run the sturdy V Chains, but would have to check on the brand name.
