Problems with 6.0 Powerstroke
 

[eyecrazy] [eyecrazy]<br>I cruised over to the &quot;other&quot; side and was reading the posts about all the problems they are having. Almost every post in the 6.0 forum talks about engine problems. Man, when I read that stuff makes me very happy I didn't buy another F*rd. The ones I had were good but appears International's quality control guys have been asleep. These F*rd guys sure are loyal. One post even mentioned a hold on new powerstroke trucks until they get the bugs worked out. Ouch. ???<br>Sample below:<br><br>Thought that I would bring everyone up to date on where things are at. The dealer has had the truck since last Friday. They brought in a Ford &quot;specialist&quot; on Monday to work with the local mechanics to attempt to resolve our poor cold start/idle/black smoke issues. Well, the specialist has worked on it the last 3 days now and it continues to have the same issues. They started a new 6.0 next to ours this morning in the parking lot (approx -5F)and ours settled into a rough idle/smoke after one minute and the new one ran just great. Sounds like the turbo charger is now giving them a code that is not very specific. Here are a few stats... we have owned it for 76 days now, it's been in the shop for 36, so we have had it for 40 days. This is the 4th trip to the dealer. We are loyal Ford owners and absolutely love this truck.... It's the perfect vehicle for us and have waited a long time for it.<br><br>Hmmm lemme see 5500k on the Cummins/Dodge darn still nothing wrong. I feel cheated [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]<br>

It was pretty cold the day I was there,<br>and I noticed that after the salesman started the<br>truck that it was idling real rough, almost &quot;loping&quot;<br>like it had a &quot;hot cam!&quot; ;D I didn't really think much<br>of it and drove the truck. IMO, it ran very well!!<br>Much better than the old 7.3 Ford PSD's!<br><br>After seeing your post, I guess there is something<br>wrong with that one too!<br><br>--------<br>John_P

I also have sneaked a peek over on the dark side and I read about bad injectors, oil leaks, and the rough running you mentioned.<br>

Intenational's engine department is natorious for not putting in enough R&amp;D time on thier engines. ::) I'm suprised Ford hasn't already picked up a different engine supplier.<br><br>I do believe the Hold on the trucks is over and they are shipping them again. The hold was do to some one on the International line installing the wrong injectors in the new 6.0L. I heard they used nozzles from lower HP rated engine and it was burning holes in the tops of pistons. <br><br>I'm sure it will take them some time to get the bugs worked out but I think Ford has built a good truck with an even better engine than the old 7.3. 8) <br><br>It all translates into more Furd guys that think they can out run my tired old Dodge. :o and we all know that meens alot more fun for me. ;D<br><br>DB

Hmmm.... What is happening to the 6.0 right now, shouldn't be happening. Someone really needs their butt kicked!<br> (on their poll 61% - no prob, 32% - prob's, and 7% wish they never bought the thing.) <br>Any way you look at it, The chances of getting something that will spend time in the shop (at this time) appear to be pretty good.

PSDKlone would attest, his chipped 7.3 kills those 6.0's. I don't know why they went away from the 7.3, after 10 years they finally got it to run right.. LOL...<br><br>I don't know how loyal I would be if my truck was 49% at the dealer. Some folks.. ::)<br><br>J-eh

They've owned it for 76 days and has been the shop 36 of those days and this is the fourth trip to the dealer. They are loyal Ford owners. Yes, I have to agree, this is the perfect truck for them. They don't need to be on the road and this truck will make that happen.

How many complaints were there when the 24V Cummins came out? I've read enough lift pump and injection pump threads to last a lifetime... i'm sure it's a good truck &amp; engine. All the mfg's have issues... not just Ford... ::) Besides, the new cummins hasn't been out that long either, I can't believe it's perfect and won't have any issues down the road....

Were they failing with 1000k, 850k on them? Leaking oil?<br>The new common rail 5.9 has been out since the fall and our boards are not clogged with problem trucks. I'd imagine some of the members have 20k with little or no problems. How many F*rds have been bought back already? (two that I know of, TDC who posts here and another from the &quot;dark side&quot;) Can't imagine how happy a fleet manager would be if he ordered a bunch of new powerstrokes and they sat at the dealer or in the yard until F*rd had a fix. FWIW<br>

I agree with top, whether they own a Ford, Chevy or Dodge, it is a real shame that the manufacturers can't or won't get it right when you are paying your hard earned dollars for a $35-$40k truck.
