No Luv for Diesels: First Paris, now Stuttgart
Banning diesels from large cities. Hope this trend doesn't continue.
Stuttgart to ban some diesel cars from city center

Yeah and its only going to get worse too as the EPA has created a wealth of damage by fooling people into believing that diesels are more polluting than a gasoline engine simply because you can visually see stuff emit from the tailpipe.

Diesels do get a bad rap because the emissions are visible rather than invisible.
But NOx is no joke when it comes to urban smog problems. It's the main reason China's air in major cities is practically unbreathable.
Euro 6 is roughly comparable to EPA 2010 standards, but they do have different weight breaks and test cycles. Euro 6 is full SCR aftertreatment.

Oh I think we all agree that pollutants are no good. But to what level those NOx are a problem.....is the part I think some people disagree on.

That's the rub.
Everyone knows and agrees that directionally cleaner is desirable. Just as safer or more precise is as well.
But moving those directions generally have higher costs as well. Why it is that nobody ever discusses COST is beyond me. If cost didn't matter, we'd all measure things accurate to a micron, never cross the street (too risky), drink only lab sterilized water, and breathe hyper-refined air.

Exactly..... Most special interest type organizations/bureaucracies seemingly make choices with blinders on, which then has society asking the questions of whether or not those groups actually understand the problem they're addressing. IE, Tripping over dollars while picking up dimes.....

I don't care for all the emission crap either but we should also consider the many kids with asthma or people with respiratory issues too. Thank God everyone in my family is healthy but I'd probably feel a lot different about emissions regulations if I had a child or family member that had issues breathing less than optimum air. Just a thought.

I'm certainly not an unsympathetic person.....but I kinda call BS to all the "symptom" issues society suffers from these days. Apparently there's a diagnosis and pill for everything,.....and.....everyone seemingly suffers from something too. Especially kids. Whether that be ADD, ADHD, peanut allergies, wheat, PTSD, lactose, acid reflux... The list goes on and on.
When I was a kid people didnt have so many issues. If you didnt feel right then you went home and took an aspirin. Today you go to the doctor and file for SSI.

Lets put up power lines over and grounds under the streets to power our vehicles like bumper cars. That way they can build more nuclear, coal, natural gas, and hydro power plants. The EPA can put meters on your vehicles like you have on your house to monitor your usage. Then they can tax you for causing more power plant pollution. See a circle forming here?

Cougar they're already moving to meter your vehicles in the form of taxing "per mile" you drive. They claim they're going to eliminate the fuel tax and use mileage tax.....but we all know they'll just tax us both ways. Actually one topic of discussion is how they're going to enforce this as the older number of vehicles on the road would be on the honor system.

I just love how all these Urban dwellers cannot comprehend that there is a natural carrying capacity of an area. Gee, let's cut this pollution and we can stuff even MORE idiots per square foot in this cesspool.
