No D/C diesel SUV's in '07 ?

After reading some announcements of D/C coming out with a diesel Jeep Cherokee in '07 I read an article in " Light and Medium Truck " magazine saying D/C couldn't get the Liberty diesel to meet '07 emissions . Due to this they will no longer offer the diesel in the Liberty and have decided not to put the diesel in a Cherokee . The futures of diesels in lght vehicles will be interesting . Cummins has an agreement with a manufacturer to build a light duty diesel for vehicles under 8500 GVW but under agreement won't say who the manufacturer is . Speculation is it's Nissan .

The September 2006 issue of DieselPower Magazine, on page 24, has a short article about a diesel-powered Grand Cherokee that supposedly will be out as a 2007 model. According to the article this will be a 3.0L V-6 sporting 218 HP and 376 lbs-ft of torque, and is Mercedes-based. I would love to see an engine like that in my Wrangler!

The diesel Grand Cherokee is coming.

I was at my dealers the other day and actually saw the dealer paper work for these rigs, they are coming.

Homestead is right, they are coming. The engine and trans combo is listed in the 07' code guides. Everyone is thinking it is Nissan that will get the small Cummins', but in Automotive news this past week they said that it was most likely DC and not Nissan. BTW, automotive news is a weekly paper for automobile dealers and manufactures and supplier's.

I've been doing some checking and I guess I was half right . No more Liberty diesel but there will be one in the Grand Cherokee . I'm real interested to see what the cost will be . I bet it's at least $5,000 over a base Cherokee .
