Mahindra trucks again

Just received this--- wonder what is going on?
Sure hope they produce it.
Good Morning Mahindra Truck Fans,

Congratulations. You are part of over 30,000 signed up to be the first to experience the hardworking Mahindra trucks.

I know you are wondering when you will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of one of these amazing, authentic, robust, fuel-efficient trucks at a Mahindra dealer near you. While I cannot give you a firm answer on timing, I can tell you in my estimation, trucks will arrive in the spring of 2011.

Mahindra has applied for and received their EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) certificate, which means the vehicles have passed emission requirements. They also filed with (NHTSA) National Highway Safety Administration, which handles US standards for safety.

With these hurdles completed, it would seem production is imminent, but other factors may hinder the US launch. India’s car sales are on a dramatic trajectory upward. The sales pace combined with an industry wide parts shortage is impacting home market sales, which will have an affect on the United States introduction.

In closing, I know each of you anxiously await the arrival of the Mahindra trucks, and I am confident that you will see a launch announcement in the next few months.

Where is Mahindra made? Or, where did they start? I've got a little garage up the street that sells Mahindra tractors, and they look pretty good and the prices aren't too bad. I've never seen or heard of them before I moved here.

If those trucks weren't so dam ugly I'd probably look into it!

Mahindra is made in India. I don't know about these trucks, but I have spent a little time under one in Haiti. Their tractors are more impressive.

Mahindra is a well respected company that has been in business for a long time. They are sincere and build quality tractors.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. A small diesel pickup, available in the US, would be a very nice thing and might open up the market for more of the same. I wonder if Toyota, VW and Nissan are watching?

Nobody wants to buy it because of the styling? It's the DIESEL! This thread is not about styling, it's interesting because it's a DIESEL. Sheesh.

Raspy I agree 100% . I'm glad it's available, I hope it sells like hotcakes, maybe then the big companies will bring in all the diesel cars that the rest of the world gets to have. Diesel Ford Rangers all over Thailand,
travel anywhere in Europe and asia, lots of small diesel trucks and cars,
Toyota Hilux, Isuzu, Nissan, there is even a diesel Mini Cooper in europe.
The big problem is our strict EPA laws regarding diesel vehicles.

Yep. Couldn't agree more. I rode in a very nice diesel Isuzu minivan in China.

It seems it's more the way the US measures "pollutants" than the way Europe does. We declare CO2 as dangerous, but make vehicles get worse mileage and cause them to produce more CO2.

I'd love to have a small Diesel Pickup for running around. I've got a Mercedes 240 engine and a Dodge D50 PU with a blown engine that look like good partners. I also have a Suzuki Samurai that is lusting for a VW turbo diesel engine.

Things are so screwed up when everyone else gets the cool equipment and WAY better mileage than us!!!!

I guess I'll just have to make my own.
