Looking for new to me Cummins
It may be awhile yet, I had a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins with the 48RE Auto. No significant issues. I loved the truck. Life got in the way and I sold it.
Now I want to start looking for a new truck. Not ready to buy yet but am starting the research process. Definitely cannot afford brand new but am a good deal finder.
I know that I will get a lot of opinions and that is fine but I am looking for info on common problems/known issues with some of the 4th Gen 6.7 trucks vs. 3rd gen 5.9's. My possible budget might allow earlier 4th gen. Maybe even a newer one if I limit options. If i found a Cherry 3rd gen priced right with low miles I might consider but I really like the Crew or Mega Cabs and some of the features of the 4th Gen trucks.
I appreciate any guidance/opinions in what to look for or steer away from as far as particular year/model engine/transmission issues etc. DPF/emmission equipment etc.
Thanks in advance and I hope to be rejoining the Cummins family soon

If I could do it again I would probably spring for an early 6.7 Mega. I found my 5.9 in good shape, but the 6.7s were running several thousand dollars less. I think I like the newer 6 SPD autos better, and the injectors seem to last better. Once deleted about as reliable as anything else I imagine.
