i hate to say it... i don't think we'll ever see another 1/2 diesel roll off the assembly line... ford & toyota already postponed & i read an article that chevy & dodge are postponing their diesels... with todays economy etc., we won't be seeing it hit the streets

I read that Dodge will come out with a 5.0 Cummins in the 1500 for the 2011 model year.

Also, they are reportedly waiting for the 2011 model year to cut the costs of all the smog CRAP they have to put on.

You can thank AlGore and the other enviro terrorists for wrecking the American auto industry with CAFE standards.

the thing is, will any of the big 3 still be around... i would love to see a 1/2 ton diesel especially since i would like to get a new diesel in the next year... i think they will keep making excuses until nobody will be interested or the will only offer it with 150 HP/300 FT Lb of torque which will be ridiculous

I would have to disagree (but in a good way)

I think if it gets really bad for the big three (like it's not already) I think you will see a demand from people that they will ONLY want to buy the 1500 with a diesel (again better millage, life, ect) and they will realize the only profit will be from selling vehicles that are more fuel efficient. If they want to compete with tiny cars, offer a better lighter diesel

I saw a few older 1500 with diesels (not factory of course) poking around the pine barrens in NJ one weekend. They are all in some 4x4 club in South Jersey or PA. It's been a while and I can't remember the clubs name. They all had 4B's in them. Not sure what they were using for transmissions though...
