Just purchased Airaid Drop in
Well, Im anxious to see how many out there call me an idiot for this purchase.
I just purchased an Airaid Drop in Filter for my truck, walked out of the store, and installed it in the truck. I have to say, on the five mile drive after installation....I was impressed on the difference in throttle response... I know alot of you all out there are against drop in filters like this, but are they really as bad as everyone makes them out to be???? |
I used one for a long time, I enjoyed it.
|
i will. go back stock and get a psm kit. it is your imagination, there is zero difference in hp or throttle response and filters poorer. you are one that placebos work on.
|
good luck to you.
|
Whats a psm kit?
|
www.psmdiesel.com or search " stock airbox mod" for a cheaper alternative. This along with the stock 4" paper filter works well.
|
danderson gave a complete answer. just give the airaid to someone

Now, hang on a second.
I ran an airaid drop in for about 3 years. It flowed fine and there was never any dust in my intake tube, when I sent my turbo to HTT they said there was no dust/dirt damage, and all of my oil reports come back clean from silica. (sand) There is nothing wrong with the airaid as long as you keep it clean and do not over oil. You can, however, obtain the same performance by doing an air box DIY mod and getting the new paper filter from dodge, which is what I am running now. |
madhat the airaid filter is the best oiled filter out there. it ranked very high and only passed twice as much dust as the new 4" deep pleat filter. my big consern is just as you stated. ( as long as you keep it clean and do not over oil ). the 4" let's half the dust through as the airaid when both are new and as the 4" starts to get dirty it will filter out even more dirt at the time to change the filter it will work 4x better than the airaid.
