Thumbs down The joy of buying a new truck in canuckville

Well, The fun has begun..lol

I thought I would go out and see what some of the prices are for a new ride but I am not sure what is considered a good price with the employee prices on right now. from what i read the US boys are getting around 10 g's off the list price of a vehicle so I figured it should be altleast that if not more since the amounts are much higher here.

I know that the manufacture is giving you a pretty good savings but does the dealer use this to his advantage to make himself a huge amount of cash on the vehicle since the manufacture is taking the hit?

I was thinking that a $ 52 000 truck would have more than 6000 to 7000 dollars knocked off of it?

I remember going into a dealer last year and getting 4 grand off a truck without having to do much dickering and none of the employee discount stuff going on.

I just dont know who to trust and what to believe anymore.

Anyone have some numbers they know are solid and true that I could guage my dealings by?

I got 7K off my 04 on a factory order way back in May of 03. I took delivery of it in August of 03. Laramie sport 4x4 3500 dually 6 spd
Its still better for me to factory order at $500.00 over then do that employee deal up here.
Knock 9.9% off of retail to get the average price and its only for the 05 on the lot stock.

As soon as the Mega cab dually is available I will factory order it...probably this fall or winter.

Scotty

there will be a good deal on this 04 then.

So by the looks of things I should be getting close to 10 grand off a ride up here.

They said they would locate for me so it shouldn't be a problem finding one if I can find a place to nail down a half decent price..

I guess its buyer beware..

No wonder I keep my trucks for so long..lol

I used to work for a Chrusler dealership in Calgary 10 years ago. The mark up then on a $50,000 Grand Cherokee was $5,000. Dealrships do not make much money on new vehicle sales. Used vehicle sales, Parts and Service are the cash cows.

The prices in Edmonton are a joke.. They were advertising an 05 2500 auto that probably stickers for 50K, they had it on "sale" for 38,500??? Ya right...

Those theives in Edmonchuck make me laugh.. By the time you leave its probably 45,000..

I can see them addding freight etc to that but that shouldn't be more than 1500 bucks or so.

That does sound a little low for sure.

If you didn't think you were getting hosed so bad I would have a new truck sitting in my driveway right now..lol

I know the dealers mark up is about 5 or 6 grand for a loaded up truck and I would guess that dodges would be about the same which puts us at about 40 grand for a 50 thousand dollar truck.

If that was the case I could live with that.

Well, I have almost given up on hoping to get a new dodge with the deals going on.

The interest rates on the Cummins are certainly not like GM or ford are offering and on a 50 thousand dollar vehicle makes a pretty big difference in the end..

I know some of you will say" Its because its a cummins" but when I compare the dealers for stock I find the Dodge dealers have alot more diesels on the lots than Ford or GM.

So at this point in the game I guess I am doomed to pile another 100k on my truck before a new vehicle makes it to my house..

The best way to gauge anything is to just look at the invoice not the MSRP. MSRP is useless really.

The invoice will not change much between dealers except for by physical location (advertising fees can change the price by maybe $500).

The invoice will not change however what the dealer ACTUALLY pays for the truck will.

Ask them to give you a copy of the invoice sheet that breaks down each option by price.... This is the best way to really know what you are paying for, it'll also show you the regional advertising fees or whatever they are. These are not fees that the dealer has control over.

If they don't give you the invoice sheet, find a new dealer. It's that simple. They should not be afraid to give you the invoice sheet....... they are making money at invoice, and even below invoice.

I would say paying anywhere from invoice - 500 to invoice +500 is normal, MINUS rebates.+-

Well when i got mine in '02 I had the REAL empolyee discount, my cuz works at DC, on the road my rig was 52G i paid 47G, I did some shopping around and every dealer had different costs for there vehicals. This "employee" pricing is a advertising ploy to sell, do your homework and you will see. I got mine 1% below cost which is the real employee discount.

Compared a few dealers and they all came back the same for the same for comparable vehicles so the prices seem to be pretty good.

My big problem is the finacing from DC isnt even close to the other tw manufactures which pretty much put a nail in the coffin for a new Dodge for me.

Don't think its going to matter much at this point since its suppose to end tonight but I will keep my eyes peeled to see how there going to get rid of all those 05's when the new maxi cab comes out..

Might be a good deal to be had with good rates after all.

Sad part is I almost had a fully loaded f 150 sitting in my driveway because of there poor rates on the diesels.. 0% over 4 is pretty hard to beat with especially with employee pricing, just ain't a Cummins though..

0 at 36 isnt a problem. Just didn't want a 1400 dollar a month payment even if its only for 3 years.

The 4 year has come down to 3.9 since they brought out the rest of there clearance sales till sept 6th but its still a fair amount of coin when everything is said and done.

Still sitting on the fence at this point. That f 150 at 0% is looking pretty good.

Anyone know what the 5.4 gets for fuel mileage? lol
