Information on old Volvo diesels?
Happy New Year!
My brother in law is looking for information to try and find parts (injectors, injection pump, etc.) on the old 6-cylinder diesels Volvo offered in the early to mid '80's. Sort of a long shot I know, as those cars were rare and most are in junkyards by now. I do know the engine was a VW design, his is a non-turbo unit. Just curious if anyone knows where to find info on these old beasts--he's just not quite ready to give this one up.

Oops, sorry. Will update profile in the morning. I am in the Chicago, IL area, and the car in question is in North Carolina. I'll try that site today, thanks!

'96_12v is it a Volvo 240, 260, 740 or 760? These links might get you somewhere. Try typing in [Volvo diesel automobile] into Google (without brackets) otherwise you'll get mostly Volvo Penta. Vaughn

It's a 240, 1983 model. 4-speed manual with o/d. About 290 k miles.
Thanks for the info, I am tending to suggest to him that he should look into new glowplugs (about $11 each) and new injectors ($30/each) and take it from there. I understand that these cars were slow from day one, but his will barely make 50 mph anymore, and starting it up when it's under 50 degrees takes much patience and persistance.
The main reason he's still hanging on to it as a 3rd vechile is that he and his parents picked up the car from the factory in Nova Scotia in 1983. Holds quite a bit of sentimential value for the family. Thanks again for the help.
