Improper fuel gauge reading

I had a new injector pump installed on my 2001 Dodge 2500 Cummings a phew years ago and my fuel gauge has never read right since, once the gauge reads 1/2 you better be at a fuel station so I never know when I'm on empty I figure half a is empty. I have ran a cluster check and everything seems fine my next step is replacing the sending unit but my gauge worked fine before the new injector pump was installed any ideas before I drop the fuel cell?

Ground wire? What year truck?

A bad sender isn't uncommon, especially if you fill up with a hi flow pump....
