Depends what you are doing with the truck in my opinion, just like most of you fellas. I have a few people around my area tell me I'm dumb for building up a Diesel Pick-Up for street/drag application, but I don't take their thoughts to heart. And as already mentioned, it's fun to pull up beside the imports, or any type of gas engined vehicle for that matter and give them a good run!

For long service and long range pulling the 300/600 works about the best. My 92 and 93 on the dyno 275/ 585 , and both trucks have over 400k on the origional engines.

guess the new Duramax is going to have 397 hp and 765 lb ft of torque Guess DC is next in line to show some new power numbers.

In reality though 325/610 is more than enough to pull anything i want with ease. These days it seems like if you cant haul 20K lbs up a 9% grade at 90 mph then you dont have enough power. Look at this picture of the "NEW" Denali HD :

Does that look like a HD truck to you ? those mirrors look like they belong on a geo metro.

I'm pretty happy with about 340hp for daily driving and towing. Easier on the drivetrain/tires and better fuel economy for around town driving.

DC should drop the hammer and offer an even 800 lb ft, but that sounds ridiculous in a stock truck ... my truck feels small now o well time to get a smarty jr to stack with the xzillaraider to stay ahead of the game

Yeah, and for those that are considering the new Duramax remember that you will have the pleasure of having to fill the urea tank that Chevy had to go with to meet emissions! And according to reports I have read that urea is expensive!

Don't all the new 6.7 Cummins have it as well, just in the fancy Bluetec name?

Question is, what happens if you just let the tank run dry and never refill it?

The 6.7L Cummins doesn't require urea except for the cab and chassis models.

IIRC if the urea tank goes dry it trips the CEL and causes the engine to go into limp mode.

I wonder if in limp mode the Ford/Chevy are detuned to 360hp and 660tq?
