Your weight should be on your registration form.

I think mine is pretty close to what it says on the registration. Depending on what you've got in your truck might change the weight a little bit.

isn't the registration going to say what the GVW is? as in the maximuim gross weight that you can "legally" operate at?

Your registered weight probaly isn't based on anything factual and certainly does not reflect the actual curb weight......legally, your registered weight should be the GVWR that is posted on the door but more often than not, the registration weight is less.......the GVWR or the registered weight have little to do with the actual curb weight of the vehicle......the only way to know the curb weight is to go and weigh the vehicle.

SjLingenfelter,

FWIW, unless your 2nd gen 2WD 3500 Club cab is weighed down with a lot of after market stuff like a cap, 5th wheel hitch, running boards, aux. fuel tanks, etc, there is no way it should be 8000 lbs empty. My 98.5 3500 QC 4x4 weighs 7700 lbs with a full tank of fuel and me in it and does not have any heavy aftermarket add-ons......I would expect a 2WD version of my truck to weigh 300-400 lbs less.....the only way to be certain is to weigh the truck yourself.

My poor little 2,500 weighs in at 7,820lb w/ me and a full tank of fuel. Most of the weight is the front bumper/winch, but the 37" tires add some heft, as well as the toolbox.

I'm still trying to figure out how my truck, with me in it, and 1/4 tank of gas, weighs 7200 lbs.

but a friend of mine, who has a 98 2500, and who weighs probably 75 lbs less than me, weighed his truck in at 7100 lbs with 1/4 tank and an empty bed.

I have a no mod 99 and two diff scales average out at 6800. One is the gravel yard that charges by the pound (gross vs tare) so I would bet they are fairly accurate.

I weighed mine at the local landfill. The old one was about 5400 with me in it, the new one is about 7100 with me in it. I was shocked at how much heavier the 3rd gens are.
