I'm too close to retirement to be spending $1400 a year on pumps.
So yep, you're right.

I'm glad I have a diesel truck. Cause it makes my Accord seem so cheap to drive! Filled it up today and it only cost $42 for 3/4 of a tank, 30.2 mpg average (mostly highway on this one). I'm not sure if I can go back to getting 14-15 mpg with the truck now. I'm getting used to this "cheapness" pretty quick.

Unfortunately, the market for big trucks is way down right now if I decided to sell it. Might as well keep it. Actually, I'm not sure if I would've been able to get much more out of it if I sold it 6 months ago. So oh well...

I thought it was funny this morning when I was listening to the radio. People were calling in and the morning radio show hosts were asking how much it takes them to fill up. One guy said $80 and everyone was like "Whoaaa! Do you have a SUV?" Ha! $80... Psssh.

I don't drive mine very much for a variety of reasons. I have the van to drive to and from work (I am a painter) and many evenings my g/f works so I stay home with our son. I use it for heavy work every now and then, for instance other than painting I install privacy fences upon requests, do decks, roofing, etc....whatever pays when no one wants painting done. I have had this truck since early Feb and driven it about 3k miles, about 650 of those were to/from TS. I'm just as annoyed as the next guy when I see 4.80+ at local stations, 1.00 more than gasoline when just a few years ago it was always .50 cheaper and prices were below 2.00/gal. It's still at the shop right now, had to do trans work and have not picked it up yet. 2700 bucks later, my bung is sore. That could have bought over a year's worth of fuel. So needless to say it's going to sit unless I need to take my son somewhere when mommy's not home. That and perhaps a time or just to keep things alive.....

Anyone see the trucker protests in Europe?? Now THATS a protest!!

Filled up the bike with premium last week, cost me 10 bucks.

Drive it when I need to- just know it's going to cost an arm and a leg and my first born. Over $150 to fill up- $5.07gallon!!!! But- when I need to haul stuff, tow stuff, or be safe in dang freeway traffic I drive it with no regrets!!! The rest of the time I drive my 220,000+miles Camry- still getting 40mpg on the hwy!!! (and the new ones only get 30hwy!! pshaw!)

When I am not working, my truck is parked too. I wish I could sell it as I wished I had gotten a quadcab instead, but knowing the market right now the truck wont hardly sell for crap (not to mention still making payments on it). Only has 20K miles but lately it pretty much just sits in the driveway. It's bad enough that it costs over $130 to fill the stock tank, but to fill that and the aux tank that will run me about $440. Pretty expensive. I really regret trading in my Prius now.

Only plus side in keeping the truck is the hauling capability....I can pull whatever i need to haul with the GN.

Unfortunately my '84 Olds needs some work to be on the road again or I would be using that to get around in. So unless I can use my mom's vehicle whenever she's home, I pretty much am a sitting duck with no way to get around.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - World crude oil production has topped out at 85 million barrels per day even as demand keeps climbing, helping to drive a stunning surge in prices, billionaire oil investor T. Boone Pickens said on Tuesday.

"I do believe you have peaked out at 85 million barrels a day globally," Pickens, who heads BP Capital hedge fund with more than $4 billion under management, said during testimony to the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

The United States alone has been using "21 million barrels of the 85 million and producing about 7 of the 21, so if I could take just a minute on this point, the demand is about 86.4 million barrels a day, and when the demand is greater than the supply, the price has to go up until it kills demand," Pickens told lawmakers.

Still driving.

Working four tens and living 7 miles from work keeps the fuel in check. I think I only need about one fillup a month now.

I have to drive, Don't think a honda accord can pull my 4 Horse trailer to the rodeos. Good thing is, horses usually win me enough to cover diesel.
