General Diesel Discussion Talk about general diesel engines (theory, etc.) If it's about diesel, and it doesn't fit anywhere else, then put it right in here.

Have you completely stopped driving your truck?

One thing I've learned about the EPA fuel numbers is that very few people/cars/trucks can get the mpg numbers posted on the window sticker.

They changed how they compute fuel mileage now, it's much more accurate.

24 City equals 19-29mpg city

29 Highway equals 24-34mpg highway

P.S. found a 2008 1.8l 5spd for $12,495

That's true. I actually get more than what they claim. My 2000 Accord v6 said 27 hwy. I get 32... And that's with the OLD system!

Mt trucks for the most part sit most of the summer. Except for the occasional trip with the camper or to pick up stone/mulch .Not because of the fuel, I use the bikes and the classic cars when its nice ...

the AMX gets about 6 mpg though

Stopped driving mine except to pull the boat(and thats not very often anymore). Cancelled 4 road trips to poker runs this summer already. Sometimes use it to haul stuff that won't fit in the "bosses" 300. Driven it less that 100 miles in the last 3-4 months. Sure stays clean and waxed though.

Almost the same here. She hasn't moved an inch since 18 Jan, but I think when I do get back it'll be the occasional trip to work during the week, and just for camping or when ever the truck is needed on the weekends.
BummerI'd love to drive it everyday.

My last tank of fuel lasted 5 months. I only use it to hual things that are to big to get in my wifes cherokee. Those infrequent trips keep the batteries charged and keep the truck limbered up. LOL, 4.50 a gallon here in Okie land. The big riggers need it worse than I do. I do most of my in town commuting on a cheap Chineese motorscooter. When diesel was around 3 bucks a gallon I bought 6 30 gallon drums and had them internally coated, filled them up now when I need fuel in my truck I get one of them out and pump it in my truck and take the drum down and refill it. This keeps the fuel rotated so it doesnt get stale. With the fuel I have in my truck and the 6 full drums I have about 210 gallons on hand at all times. This will more than get me from Okla. City to my New Mexico residence if times get rough.

Mine hasnt moved in almost a month. I only use it when I need to carry something. Otherwise, I take my motorcycle everywhere. Even today its supposed to rain but I still rode. Ill take the temporary inconvenience of being wet.

Still driving mine around. I go 50 miles per day to and from work and drive it on the weekends too. I've been thinking about getting wither a bike or a car soon. The diesel pump shut off on me today at $100 for 22 gallons of diesel. Not only do fuel prices suck but the the price of Miller high life and Molson Canadian went up too!

Bought one half tank of fuel since early December. What does that tell you?
It would be down the road right now if I could sell it.
