There are some cheap cars out there that get good mileage and have a good warranty. I think Hundai has a car around 12k with a 100k warranty gets 30 plus mpg. It's not just the cost of the fuel but a set of tires. You can almost buy 4 tires for a little car for what 1 tire cost for your truck and they can go 80k miles on 1 set. I'm at 76k on a set now and I'll change them at 80k.
I'm not saying I wanted to do that but in 03 I did. VW TDI 54 mpg is my best but 46 to 49 is the average.
I did buy my 04 for a weekend driver and I haven't stopped.

Driving to work is about the only driving I do with my truck. Sometimes I take a company truck home on the weekends in which realy helps on the cost.

still a daily driver, 60 miles round trip plus what ever driving i do inbetween. I have a MB E420 as a "secondary" but since i work in the down hole oil machining business it is generally frowned upon showing up in anything german even if it is 11 years old. I know what you are thinking "I don't care what people think...." well you do when they are your customers and they pay you......so I will be rockin' the Cummins

I typically just take them out on the weekends (if it's not raining) for a evening on the town or if I really need a truck to do a truck job. Every once in a while they both get to come out to play, typically on a Thursday going to the track. Other than that, my Yaris gets all the "unnecessary" miles the trucks would normally get.

I switched to carpooling with the wife in the 02 Liberty. The fuel prices have changed our vacation plans though, we won't be taking the 5th wheel out this year, we'll just pay for rooms on our trip....

Advocate of getting the ban button used on him...

I do still carpool as much as possible cuz it is dangerous as ... in Mexico right now!

Truck has been parked for about a month now. It's up for sale, but not because of fuel prices. We just bought a new minivan since we are expecting our third child in October.
I drive my scooter to work every day now. 85 MPG and I only need to fill it every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks. Only holds 1.5 gallons.

Mine's been sitting for over 2 months now. I'd love to drive it, but the motor being in pieces doesn't help that any. Last time the truck was filled up, diesel was $3.74 here, still have the receipt above the visor. Shot up really quick around here.
