Are guys asking too much $$?

I have been looking around at 12v's, mainly 2nd gens but a few first gens as well. With the current price of fuel and uncertainty on how high it will go, why do so many feel the need to command such ridiculously high prices for 15 year old trucks with high miles? I won't go into specific trucks as I don't want any owners to happen to be members here and anger them, but has anyone else noticed this?

I no what your talking about and dont realy understand unless its showroom shape. I have 2 first gens myself. Ive seen them for 13000.00 thats crazy. I gave 4000.00 for my 92 3/4 4x4 12v, all it needs is a little paint, it has 140,000 miles. But if look hard enough you will find them for a decent price.

Yeah, ya know I could understand two years ago maybe even one......but these days I keep seeing just decent trucks where the owner is asking thousands more than just about anyone will pay. I found a terrific looking 95 a couple months back going for 16,000, but the dang thing had 150,000 miles and was only mildly modded!! I understand asking that if you are trying to find an idiot, but if you're actually seriously expecting most people to pay that you are high and need to either keep it or come down, way down.

its worth what people are willing to pay for it. I paid 3000 for a jeep and sold it 6 months later for 6400.....

That is true, it is worth what people are willing to pay....however, when just about everyone is only willing to pay 2/3 or maybe half the asking price and they get upset or won't bend.....then what?

Smile just last week

just last week i saw a 1st gen 4x4 with 176k miles on it, for sale on Craigslist for 6500. Pics of it looked fairly clean. I called just for the heck of it, it was already sold.

With the high price of diesel fuel, people are parting with these CTD trucks a lot more than you might think, so keep your eyes open, you will surely find one if you look hard enough.

I just sold a 97 12v 4X4 rc and replaced it with an 03 QC laramie 3500 4X4 with 30k less miles on it. the 97 with $150 in mods would run circles around the 03 with the edge cranked all the way up. It's been gone for 2 days and reality is setting in, I REALLY miss that 12v and will probably seek out another in the future. there is something special about those powerplants I just cant explain. By the way I posted the 97 on ebay with a buy it now of 13,500 and it was gone in 12 hours part of me was hoping it wouldn't sell

If you watch ebay, there are not alot bringing alot of money. I have seen some nice 12V with buy it nows for under 10K. Some around $7500. There is a low mile, standard, 4x4, cab and chassis with 113K miles for $8500. You could probably get it for less. It also depends if you want a work truck or a nice driver....
