GM Guy looking for 4BT info...
Hello all, new member here. I was told to come here to get some info on my conversion to a Cummins 4B. I have a good running GMC 3500 Dually Crew Cab. It has the mechanical IP 6.5L TD and computer controlled 4l80E transmission. Truck came with no Cat and has 4.10 gears. Currently I run 235/85 16's which makes 62 mph @ 2000 rpms. I'm looking for more power and better mileage than my 6.5L can deliver on a daily basis. I was told my truck would be easy to convert since my 6.5L wasn’t computer controlled. I've read about the Grumman trucks that use GM transmissions mated to 4b's and I’m looking for info on the right 4b to buy, or do they all just require an adapter?
There's a company called arsco , there out of Ohio and there on ebay ...3000 for the 4 bt + $350 + another 500 for a turbo 400 + shiping ... you do the math .
The 4 bt is a great motor ...I'm looking for one my self at the right price for a toyota landcrusier , as for that motor in a 3500 pick up ... I have seen these little 4bts at the diesel drag ... I have seen one guy putting out 350hp with 800ftlbs of torque ...it was a monster with a monster cost ... 15 grand .
The little 4 puts out 120hp .
I am full of useless info ...LOL
Good luck in your choice , hope this helps .
Greg
