Well to top that, about 5yrs ago the price of premium gas with taxes was still under $1/ gal for a little while!!! (had G@$$ERS back then, didn't notice the price of diesel ) I don't remember ever seeing it that cheap, and probably won't see it again. On second thought within a year later it also went as high as I've ever seen it to, so maybe that wasn't so good then....

had to chime in on this one. diesel here is 2.099 a gal

figured this would be as good a place as any to put this. a good friend of mine works on the offshore oil rigs as a welder and he told me the following info. the huricanes in the gulf only did minimal damage to the rigs. they were only evac'ed for a couple of days for safety precautions. the refineries also only received minimal damage as they are both built to handle far more than a category 5 hurricane. he informed me that the rig he is on recently finished a series of wells and is just sitting there. there is more oil in the gulf than all of the middle east and there are literally thousands of wells sitting in the gulf just capped off and sitting there doing nothing. there are some oil wells here in pa that are just sitting there doing nothing. alot of wells in texas are doing nothing also.

so as you can see the oil shortage and the so called peak oil situation are just things made up by the oil companies to give reason to send oil prices throught the roof. if opec wants to cut production then fine let them keep there oil and we'll use our own and watch how quick the prices fall through the floor. the oil in alaska is being shipped to japan instead of being used here. like everyone said its just a money grab.

for a good alternative take a look at this site. www.biodieselnow.com

45 cetane still $2.199 gal here.

News reported this week that crude oil prices are off quite a bit from the record highs.
No price movement at the pumps yet.

When the news reports prices of crude are up, prices at the pump jump up imediately.

Hmmmmm day before yesterday, 2.039
Yesterday 1.999
Today at Cowboys, Pelham Alabama 1.969

At least its going in the right direction.

I listened to a news thingey on the way home. They said the oil speculators had it all going strong, prices higher and higher. It fell apart and a bunch of the speculators went out of business by expecting it to go higher. Jeez, I feel so bad for them.....

Got as high as $2.39 at the 2 places I choose from.

Sat there for about 3 weeks, then dropped to $2.29, held for a week, then $2.24.

Down to $2.20 when I drove by today.

Sitting on half a tank right now.

Just filled up the other day and shelled out a whopping $68.00. Ouch!
Gonna look for a commuter car to cut down on fuel and putting miles on my truck.

Passed by a truck stop at about 6:00 thismorning, sign read 1.99, didn't think I could do any better so I pulled up to a pump. Got out, starting to put my gloves on and happened to be looking at the price on the pump. Right before my eyes it switched from 1.99 to 1.87. Thinking it might have been a manfunction of some type, I grabed the nozzle and started pumping ASAP. I really did think this was a mess up, but by the time I had got to about 20 gallons a guy walked out and changed the numbers on the sign out front.

I haven't noticed anyone else's price take the drive yet...but I hope it's soon to come.
