While we're at it we should limit the number of pensions these career politicians collect. If they hold 10 different offices they collect 10 pensions and most of them are independantly wealthy to begin with or they couldn't afford to run for office. That's why the country is going broke, they vote themselves 10-20% raises while the working man has to fight to get 3% not even keeping up with inflation.

Mexstan: All well and good, but not practical. Currently available is the synthetic crude from Canada, right now $12/bbl. We are close to the supply vs 6 wks by tanker. It's light sweet crude, which is made into various grades of unleaded.

What's practical is the obvious-NG, LPG, LNG or even Methane. Wyoming produces enormous amounts of methane gas. 3000 wells and more coming. We don't know where it's been shipped to or what it's been used for. For all I know, another country is getting the benefit of our cheaply produced methane.
There's more hydrated gases available right here than in all the fossil fuels in the world. So, why aren't we insisting on it?

Our neighbor to the North has the most numbers of vehicles that run on propane. It's readily available all over the country. Their Federal Govt has required it for govt owned vehicles for years and years. And, there's no sales tax on that alternative fuel. It's clean energy. Propane powered vehicles lose about 5% in mileage and hp is not affected. Cost savings are HUGE. I know a fellow up there who had a 1990 Ford V-8 van powered by LPG. He changed oil at 25k mi and plugs lasted 100k mi. When he sold it in 1994, it had 224k mi. Their govt supports and encourages people to use it. If we weren't so damned dependent on foreign oil................

Practical or not, there are alternatives. So the question is, why is your government so insistant on using expensive foreign oil? And thereby allowing themselves to be held hostage? Why are not you, the American consumer and taxpayer, screaming loud and long about this?

Because it falls on deaf ears. Simply stated, they don't want to hear rationale thought processes and will use price controls instead.

Even you must admit, that 600 bbl/day output is not cost effective? http://www.usatoday.com/tech/columni...2-kantor_x.htm

This might best explain about sour (high sulphur) crude and light sweet (low sulphur) crude. www.bankspower.com/tech_aboutdieselfuel.cfm

So if I interpret this correctly, it goes back to a term I use often: "self serving politicians".
Correct?

Isn't that statement redundant?

We are all SICK AND TIRED of getting it up the rear by the oil companys. Since Bush got in office it is much worse. Vote your wallet this year! I dont care who the Democratic contender is, Im voting AGAINST the Republicans. And I have voted Republican for almost 20 years.

We are losing an average of one American kid a day in Iraq. If you think Iraq is about terrorism and not oil......... You're crazy. "W" and the oil company's are raping this country. FIGHT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!
