That is similar to what I wanted. My dream rig would be a 24V long bed, 4x4, and a 6 speed manual. My current truck is quite the opposite (short bed, 2x4, auto). Oh well, if the auto ever goes out, I'll swap in a G56

I went with the 1.6s instead of the Mach 4s because I tow a toyhauler a few times a year. Mach 4s are still tempting though. 
Perhaps I will go bigger after a clutch and turbo upgrade.
The 1.6's work great. They seem to put out less smoke than the original HO injectors and have a ton more power. The Smarty works very well with these injectors.

I've got it on good authority that 02 CTDs really like Mach 4s with a Smarty.
