ECO Diesel 1500 moved from help
Move to the appropriate form if this isn't but I thought yall get a laugh out of this. Dad's brand new ECO boost 1500 with 20000 miles on the motor just spit a rod out if the side of the block through the oil pan. Who knows about the recall for these trucks with bad cranks and we're do I find the info

DC, figured this would probably be better in the general.
I have to ask, is this the same one he put Urea in, or did they end up replacing the whole engine from that one.
I have heard of some of them spitting cranks and rods.
It won't take long before they get a reputation............
You can do a recall search based upon the VIN here, on the sidebar.

Was he the guy that passed me up on Vancouver Island last summer pulling a 21' Trophy?!?!? That thing was SCREEEEEEAMMMMMIINNGG! I had the Seaswirl behind me at 14,960 lbs and moved into the right hand lane cuz he'd been drafting me through the s-turns heading to Gold River. Dude pulled the grade pretty good..no smoke, just a blurry area about 20 ft to the right into the woods. We had a good laugh and were feeling sorry for the 2nd owner of that rocket ship....
Hey Pat, I think he's referring to the F-150 with the twin turbos, not the Ram....

No its the same one he put urea in but the urea never got passed the water fuel sensor in the back of the truck. Dealer said it was not related issue as they found no traces of it in the fuel passed the filter. Thanks for the info I'll pass it on to him.

When the Eco-Diesel first hit the market, I was pretty excited about it. I thought that would be the perfect truck for my needs. But I'v been watching the boards, and I'm not impressed. Some trucks have gone 200K miles with nothing but routine maint. And some have been nothing but trouble from the start. Lot's of blown engines, and it takes months to get them repaired.
Performance and mileage isn't bad, but it's not exciting, either. They are going for pretty cheap on the used market, though.
Now I'm watching the Chevrolet Colorado with the baby Duramax diesel.

This is just what I want to see... I just picked up my 16 ecodiesel for the wife on monday. Hopefully it proves to be a good one. Leaving the dealership, Nissan next door was just getting a truck load of Titan XD's with the 5 liter cummins. I might go take one for a test drive just to see how it feels. Hoping I made the right choice.

I can tell you if you look around on the Internet it's a all to common problem, some went at 8000 miles some a 30k. Mom's gave us no indication there was a problem it just started knocking one day then on the way in to the dealership it shot the rod out if the oil pan.
