....when it's 110 degrees outside! Actually the wheel skin steering wheel cover installed nicely and looks and fits great (got it at Geno's). My steering wheel is still good, but I know I'll have this truck for a long time so I wanted some protection. Just my bad on deciding to do it on a HOT afternoon. Never thought I would lose weight installing a steering wheel cover[laugh] .

It's a dry heat though;) i also have to deal with sunny az everyday.

Wheelskins will try your stamina. Have done two in the past and consider it a six pack job with advils, for the hand cramps. [laugh]

As for heat... We topped out at a cool 75*F!!! [laugh]

You might get one of these on in 5 min but you couldnt get a lace up leather one on in under 45. Ya wouldnt want to be caught with one of these on your truck.][laugh]

How does the leather actually go bad? Mine was friggin nasty when I picked the truck up, just caked with dirt. I kept wiping it off and it is now down to the funky looking leather but nothing really comes off in my hands anymore. Also are you guys ordering charcoal or black?

I ordered the black as that is what my original has. I'm not sure what people do to these steering wheels. I'm a tech and none of my Dodges have ended up with the "worn wheel", but I see some come in that are damm near down to the foam over the metal. I just installed mine as a "just in case" deal and I do like the thicker wheel.

It's usually from the sweat on your hands and palming the wheel as your turning. My dakota had a leather wheel and it grew a wear spot in it so i put a cover on my current rig before i messed it up as well.

Well, the leather on mine is starting to get crumbly on a spot or two in only 2 years. The last Ford I had for about 9 years and it's leather wheel was still perfect...


Hopefully I don't get flamed too bad, but the leather on the wheel is about the only thing I've noted that seemed to be better on the ford...

Why would that get you flamed, most people probably agree. ;)

I use a thin layer of Obenhuafs (I think I spelled that right) boot oil on mine about one a mth or so. It is an all natural oil that wont damage your leather unlike saddle soap and what not. Have any of you considered using a wrist breaker/suicide ball? I am really thinkin about it I had one on my chevy and really liked it but I am not real sure there is a good place to mount it on the dodge or if it will do more damage than good.

Good idea on the leather.. I think me using hand cleaner etc on the job contributes to the leather getting abused.

As for the suicide ball... Gets you a steep fine in my parts.ILLEGAL. Plus I don't see the advantage unless you are backing trailers all day long...
