The thing that woories me is these trucks are made to pull bigger and heavy loads?? So way the heck are they running the same transfer and tranny as 1ton??? That was one of the first things i had to put in my 05, A CLUTCH!! and i'm sure the 5500 will use the same clutch as 1tons as well... What a bunch of crap

What have all the problems been with your 3500?
The Sterling is built in the same plant in Mexico that builds the 4500/5500 . All these trucks have a 26,000 lb. gvwr . That is adequate for a 21' rollback .
The probs i have had (rough estm on miles)

well lets see, back in the day you used to get a Dodge CNT900 tandem axle tractor with what, a 230 cummins in it? So you had around 210-220 usable horsepower to get 80k moving. Its all about reliability - downtuning the motors results in longer life. You dont have to go 0-60 in 10 seconds in a class 5 truck.
this topic seems ot have died for some reason, so I thought Id give a more related example. Theres a 1974 Dodge W-600 (thats 4wd), class 6 truck I know of around my area that still runs. Its got a 318. Not a 318 detroit, a 318 gas job, the kind of thing that seems to be too small for a durango these days, much less a big class 6 truck. Funny to think how far we've come, aint it?
