I had a gas station attendant come out and yell at me to turn it off otherwise he wouldn't turn the pump on. I told the guy he's an idiot and said some other things to him and put the pump back and drove to the station across the street and proceeded to give them $70.

They would if they had the older style return manifold. This plumbed into the vent line for the fuel neck. Our new (WELL for the last 2 years or so) style installs in the fill neck itself. My kit was older and i retrofited mine about 2 months ago since i know the guy that makes the systems.......

I never turn mine off! i did a tree hugger lady give some crap one day, saying that i could blow up the pumps with my engine running or something similar, i then tell her my engine is turbocharged and it needs to idle to circulate oil to it. she then tells me i m lying and my truck isnt turbocharged (even though its says it on the side). i then tell her that i dont care, she keeps going on and on, so i look at her husband to see what hes gonna do cause i m getting aggravated. hes just standing there like a sissy, i wanted to tell to get control of his wife, but i restrained myself and just ignored her. i wish i would have been parked the other way i could have gave them a nice soot shower, they needed it.

I normally shut down. On occasion I will let it run if it is real cold but I am not near any gas pumps. I don't do the single diesel pump right beside the gas pump thing if I have to. They normally don't move enough fuel to buy there.

leave it running, CHECK POCKET FOR SPARE KEY, lock the doors, and then pay. oh, i don't know about fuel consumption at idle in the dodge, but my volvo semi truck (12 liter common rail ) uses about 2/5 gallons per hour. so maybe the cummins uses about half that?

Yes, if you get enough of them.

A gasser filling his tank next to you won't do anything, but if he drops the spout and dumps 10 gallons on the ground around you, your engine could suck enough to run-away.
Unmetered fuel input, extremely high idle, engine parts coming out of the block at high speed.

I shut off since I almost always fill up at busy gas stations.
