dieselated gasoline
dieselated gasoline
I just had a crazy idea on the way to work today. Would it be possible to run gasoline in a diesel if the octane were lowered enough? I don't want to try on my truck, but I thought it would be a good topic of discussion. To bad they don't make diesel weed wackers to test it on.
And gasoline has at least 20% less BTU energy content per gallon than Diesel - you could add gallons of two-stroke motor oil per tank to up the energy content some, but you'd be way over the price of a gallon of Diesel by then, fer sure
why would you lower the octane?? Gasoline will combust much faster then diesel will. Gasoline is in the C5-C10 range, with C8 being octane. Diesel fuel is closer to C14-C23.
Gasoline will ignite just in the rail from the extreme pressures, so simply put gas is bad!!

I know for a fact that a PowerChoke will run on 89 unleaded, but not very well and not for very long
That tech never did live that down...
... and that heap never did run quite the same!
Nothing rattles more than a diesel at 3K RPM on gasoline.
