I am starting to wounder how it will work out. if they have the same flaws that are cummins have. slow warm up. short trips are bad for them. they may not work out and be a flop.

These will be here soon, the demand is there, and they know it. Just not gonna give GM or Ford any ideas to jump on it before they do.

It sure would be nice to have a diesel in a lighter package. I'll never sell the 12V, but another 2500 wouldn't be totally necessary for me, I really enjoy the power delivery of diesels also. Would also be nice for Dodge to get a good jump on something for once... in the pickup world anyhow.

just put a 12 valve in a 1/2 ton and enjoy. been driving one for about 8 years and all of it is short trip driving. 12-15 mi. at a time

Fiat has Diesels now. I wonder if they would push a Fiat over a Cummins?

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

And quite honestly, the IVECO engines that FIAT has are not bad engines....basically Cummins copies from what I've seen in the AG world.

Chrysler may have done some stupid things, but to kick the Cummins out for something "in house" would be suicide. We all know, if Chrysler didn't have their name on the bottom line GM or Ford would! IF they go with in house it would be a "base" engine with the Cummins as the "option". That said I hope they start using their Fiat engines in the cars!

4.5 Liter Duramax

This engine http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...ty-trucks.html has been sitting on GM's shelf for over 2 years.

no dought i would buy one, not as soon as they came out i would want them to figure out all the bugs that comes with any new design but hell yea i would buy one. it would mainly be for the wife who wants a diesel but cant drive something as big as my 2500. I think this is a great idea, and look at all the ppl that are putting the 4BT cummins in half tons and doing great things with them.

scott1050 04-06-2011 07:49 PM

maybe with oil going up maybe they will change their mind about bring a diesel to market

wytesyko 04-07-2011 10:45 AM

Chrysler is doing many things with diesels right now, but none are a 1/2 ton with a Cummins, the Wranglers,Libertys and Caravans are getting a 2.8l VW diesel, the Journey is getting a real nice Fiat 2.0 mated with a 6 speed, and the 300 and Grand Cherokee still have a 3.0l v6 diesel.....All are slated for overseas with nothing available here:(
