There is nothing more fun that to spend an evening driftin the city streets after a good snow.About the sand bags,I bought some before for my fiance's car at Tsc.Rural KIng is also a good place if you have one around-both of these places were cheaper than big home improvement stores.My truck in 4 wheel drive is almost unstoppable-literally!I dont use my 4 wheel drive unless ai really need it because it can be a deception of how slick it really is.4 wheel drive doesnt really help you stop.I see commonly people in sport utilities off the road.I think they drive around with their 4 wheel drive that will take off with great traction so they drive like normal and then end up sliding in a ditch!Dont get me wrong ,I love lockin it in and havin fun spinnin the 4 wheels but in normal driving I keep it in 2h just to kelp keep tabs on the slick road.To all those who get more snow than me-do some donuts and drift the city streets!

If it so slick that I got to use 4WD then it time to turn around and go home. This is to reference of normal every day road driving. Not offroading or playing!
Rule of thumb: 4WD will get you stuck 40-80 feet more!
But if your out with friends and got a plan... It can be fun trying to fight your way through the snow and icy roads!

Way out in BFE looking for a winery that was hosting a Christmas party...Whoever wrote the directions needs flogged
Note to self: Buy navigation system
Anyway decided to turn around in what I thought was a parking lot next to a vineyard....Found a ditch under the snow
I'm pretty sure the front axle hit the stops....Wife said if it had been her car the airbags would have blown out....I drove on thru it and the truck pulled right out in 2wd...I stopped and looked under to make sure I still had an oil pan...Anyway, driving home, truck tracked straight and no problems...Glad I hit the ditch straight....Note to self: Dont run off in snow unless you know the area
BTW...Drove some long and tall hills too...One hill in particular: 50mph at the bottom, 70 at the top, no downshift and lots of pedal left.....My old gasser would downshift at least to second gear to pull the same hill....This engine is awesome.......

I didn't read all the articles but.Torque mine doesn't have much torque but that is another story. I envy you for all that torque, wish mine did.
Tires are a very good start. I use Michelin M/S try are very good. They have (siping) and allow the tread to move which is what you want. The use of A/T's is over rated. The next is weight. And even weight distribution. Use the scales at night if you have to. I am also believe that running more rear diff additive is better for I have and the diff always locks in when it should and doesn't chatter when cornering on gravel roads. So far never had a problem driving with icy roads up here.

It's not gonna be fun driving in the snow after installing the upgraded transmission, I can tell. It shifts pretty hard and the power gets to the ground, I might have to leave the 8000 lb 4x4 at home when it snows

Also, regarding a post I read in this thread... I believe that an engine brake and an exhaust brake are actually two different things. I'm not sure which category the Jake brake falls into though.
