Thinking about buying a new scanner that can read and cancel all the codes on my truck and other vehicles, plus MUST be able to read and cancel SRS and ABS codes. I checked on the internet and see that there are quite a few recommended, but thought that I would check here first and see what the gurus recommend. Brand and model if possible please.

Would like to have an OBD3, but those things are expensive, plus also need to pay out lots more money to keep up with the software upgrades. As I do not use this for work, just cannot see being able to justify the expense. Will an OBD2 do just as well?

In short, need something that is a bit more than just a cheapie scanner and code canceller. Most of those in any case cannot read or do anything with SRS or ABS codes. Also do not want to spend thousands of dollars for a tool that will sit on the shelf for much of the year, but at the same time will compromise a bit for something professional and maybe a bit more than a shade tree mechanic will use.
